Gianfranco Ferre; 1989 -1997

  • When Marc Bohan was replaced by Gianfranco Ferre, is was questioned my many if was acceptable to allow the work of an Italian? Though he decided the best idea was to leave the traditional Dior style and Ferre decided that creating his own work through the label was the best possible outcome for the company; which was frowned upon by many. He did however create the couture collections, as well as Ready-to-Wear which made such a gap between Dior and other designers, pushing Dior once again as a superior within the industry. His work was so incredibly detailed and beautifully made, which is why he received in 1989 the De d’Or award, which was an achievement for anyone; but especially the Italian.
